Ya, main thing Genting have a lot of assets not fully maximise for contribution, gaming expansion overseas also not so successful except Singapore (could be due to less competition). Las Vegas and others also not really contributing after US4.6 billion investment yet cound Empire loss. Lau, think of it this way..Genting has been using the potential dividends your grandpa could have received to buy land and other assets. Now, they’re selling those assets just to pay down debt.

Who really benefits? The bankers and private placement investors(Lim ?) collect their fees and interest.

And ordinary investors like us? We barely see any returns. Our money just sits on the sidelines while the company works to fix its debt. Share keep falling.... XD

Ya agreed Nerraw but business is like that no guaranteed successful. We as minority shareholders only hope the company eventually find the right way to growth again. Indonesia LNG Gas could be good venture once start contributing while if New York license if really able to turnaround Empire via leverage and Las Vegas start contribute perhaps thing will say otherwise.. we just can patiently wait

Lau, imagine this: you and your partner run a kopitiam, but you is a sleeping partner, just collects dividends while he’s paid to run the business. He expands by borrowing from banks and issuing private placements to his friends and family.

For the past 14 years, dividends stay the same, can’t even beat inflation and the share price drops. Then he starts selling company cars, shoplots, and land just to pay the bank and his friends’ private placement interest. Meanwhile, he tells you he wants to venture into new businesses kindergarten, hotels, whatever… do I even need to say more?

One of the good example is YTLPower.. many years ago the stock price at RM2+ then come down all the way to RM1.3+ and my wife bought and its down all the way to RM0.60+ and my wife can only hold and almost 7 yrs taking little dividend and successfully sold it last year. As long as the company making a come back we all have chance.
