Malaysia's hopes of becoming a global datacenter hub will be hit by President Joe Biden's latest directive that will limit access to chips with US technology. According to a Bloomberg report, the directive places countries worldwide into three main categories.

If the restriction is implemented, it could impact data centre expansion plans outside Tier 1 countries, including Malaysia, though most new AI data centres there are US-owned.

US won't ban AI chips to US companies' data centers in Malaysia, it's kind of exception rule in tier 2 countries like Malaysia. And, customers of Natgate had already fitted into this exception category way earlier than Biden's restriction, because Natgate's servers use Nvidia chips, and Nvidia had already made sure Natgate's customers comply with the rules set earlier which is similar to the recent one.
