CTOS, RCE Capital among 33 counters newly classified as shariah-compliant, says SC

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Credit rating agency CTOS Digital Bhd and consumer financing firm RCE Capital Bhd are among 33 new entries in Securities Commission Malaysia (SC)'s shariah-compliant securities list.

The SC said in the updated list that the classification exercise was undertaken by its Shariah Advisory Council (SAC), with input and support from the commission.

The updated list of shariah-compliant securities listed on Bursa Malaysia will come into effect on Friday (Nov 26).

The SC said the list was reclassified using audited financial statements released up to Sept 30, 2021.

"Thirty-three securities, newly classified by the SAC as shariah-compliant securities, have been added to the list and 25 securities have been excluded from the previous list,” the regulator said.

Besides CTOS and RCE, the newly-classified shariah-compliant securities are Ace Innovate Asia Bhd, Advance Information Marketing Bhd, Benalec Holdings Bhd, Carzo Holdings Bhd, CEKD Bhd, Ecomate Holdings Bhd, ES Ceramics Technology Bhd, Farlim Group (M) Bhd, Green Packet Bhd, Haily Group Bhd, ICT Zone Asia Bhd, IJM Plantations Bhd, KNM Group Bhd, Leon Fuat Bhd, Lysaght Galvanized Steel Bhd, Nestcon Bhd, NTMP Holdings Bhd, Parkwood Holdings Bhd, Pekat Group Bhd, Pensonic Holdings Bhd, RTS Technology Bhd, SHL Consolidated Bhd, Southern Cable Group Bhd, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd, TAS Offshore Bhd, Tasco Bhd, Techbond Group Bhd, Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Bhd, Turiya Bhd, Wang-Zheng Bhd and YB Ventures Bhd.

Meanwhile, the 25 securities excluded from the latest list are AppAsia Bhd, Asia File Corporation Bhd, Asian Pac Holdings Bhd, BCM Alliance Bhd, Brem Holding Bhd, Deleum Bhd, DGB Asia Bhd, Fast Energy Holdings Bhd, Ge-Shen Corporation Bhd, HLT Global Bhd, I-Berhad, Key Asic Bhd, Konsortium Transnasional Bhd, LBI Capital Bhd, Luster Industries Bhd, Pansar Bhd Parlo Bhd, PRG Holdings Bhd, Reach Energy Bhd, Rubberex Corporation (M) Bhd, Sanichi Technology Bhd, Sunzen Biotech Bhd, Teo Seng Capital Bhd, TFP Solutions Bhd, and Yinson Holdings Bhd, according to the regulator.

“The SAC, through the SC, will continue to review the shariah status of securities listed on Bursa Malaysia on an annual basis, based on the latest available annual audited financial statements of the companies,” the SC said.

It added that there were 751 shariah-compliant securities out of all 948 listed companies on Bursa Malaysia as at Nov 22.
