Bung Moktar hospitalised in Kota Kinabalu
KOTA KINABALU (Dec 4): Kinabatangan member of Parliament Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who is also the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
His son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, confirmed this but refused to elaborate on his father's exact illness.
He also humbly called on all parties to pray for the health of his father, who is also the Lamag state assemblyman.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Naim Kurniawan, on behalf of his family, thanked all the imams in Lamag for organising solat hajat (prayer of need) and prayed to Allah SWT for his father’s health.
"We are grateful for the prayers and concern of the imams. They are a source of strength for us as a family. May Allah SWT bless all your efforts and grant you many rewards,” he posted.
Meanwhile, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, in a brief statement, prayed that Bung Mokhar would have a swift recovery, and matters related to his treatment be facilitated.
"May Allah SWT grant strength, patience and protection to him and his family in facing this test. Surely, every trial has its lessons. Insha-Allah, he will quickly recover,” he said.
Sabah Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Rahman Dahlan, in a statement, also prayed that Bung Moktar will recover swiftly and that Allah SWT will facilitate all matters.
Meanwhile, Bernama's checks Thursday night found many leaders and Bung Moktar's friends gathered in front of the hospital.
Several leaders, irrespective of political ideologies, were present, including Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin, who is also Sabah Umno secretary; Kawang assemblyman Datuk Seri Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar and Tempasuk assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari — both from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
When met after visiting Bung Moktar, the leaders, however, refused to comment on his condition and asked the public to pray for Bung Moktar's health.
Social media, meanwhile, was flooded with messages and prayers for Bung Moktar's health, regardless of their respective backgrounds.
Parti Warisan Information chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman was among the leaders praying for Bung Moktar's swift recovery.
"Our prayers are also with his family and friends… that they continue to be patient, blessed with spiritual strength and calmness in facing this challenge,” he said.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah vice-president Datuk Masiung Banah said that although they have different political leanings, they are still close friends.
"May he be granted eternal health. Our prayers also accompany his family members, may they be granted peace and fortitude through God’s trials,” said Masiung, who is also the Kuamut assemblyman.
