KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd is pressing ahead with its fiscal turnaround and sustainability drive, even as structural challenges continue to weigh on the national postal service.
Group chief executive officer Charles Brewer acknowledged that financial hurdles remain steep, but said the group is determined to reposition its business for long-term resilience.
"A fiscal turnaround is tough. We are working very hard to fiscally transform the business," he told reporters after launching Pos Malaysia's new fleet of electric vans here today.
He added that Pos Malaysia's parcel service has become market-leading, giving it a solid platform for growth once the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) creates greater choice in the courier sector.
"Customers will choose based on service, reliability and price and we want Pos Malaysia to be that choice," Brewer said.
At the same event, the company unveiled 136 new Maxus eDeliver 3 electric vans, handed over by Weststar Maxus in partnership with leasing partner Yinson GreenTech.
Brewer said the initiative underscores Pos Malaysia's push to be the nation's green logistics leader, coinciding with the celebration of World Electric Vehicle (EV) Day.
With the addition of the new vans, Pos Malaysia now operates the largest EV fleet in Malaysia's logistics industry, comprising 1,252 electric two-wheelers and 264 electric four-wheelers.
