I strongly urge the government to build more low-cost bedsitter/studio apartment units for single people in every urban/suburban area. These are economical, simple to build and take up little space.
The US depends on supplies from the rest of the world for it to function. If the rest of the world cuts off trade with the US, its economy will crash within a few months. If Trump wants to raise tariffs, let him go ahead. It is US importers/consumers who will have to absorb them. This will means lower sales so set a higher price if needed. Don't negotiate with an irrational person who is trying to bully the rest of the world. Instead, work towards reducing trade with the US and increasing trade with the rest of the world.
