KUALA LUMPUR: Volatility continued on Bursa Malaysia as over 1,000 securities closed in the red amid the rout in global equities.

Dealers said risk sentiment remained subdued due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Adding to the downbeat note, the US Federal Reserve is not expected to hurry in lowering interest rates this year.

The FBM KLCI slipped 7.53 points, or 0.49% to 1,535.0, with 18 of the 30 component stocks ending lower.
