KUALA LUMPUR: Investors chose to pause for breath today and take profits in the wake of the recent strong gains while the ringgit strengthened marginally against the US dollar.
At 5pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI closed down 3.19 points, or 0.21% at 1,552.40. The market traded within a range of 7.46 points between an intra-day high of 1,554.95 and a low of 1,547.49 during the session.
There were 386 gainers, 652 losers and 459 counters traded unchanged on the Bursa Malaysia. Turnover stood at 3.65 billion shares valued at RM2.71bil.
Among the losers on Bursa Malaysia, Allianz slid 18 sen to RM19.06, SHL Consolidated lost 18 sen to RM2.12, Ajinomoto fell 14 sen to RM17.20 and PETRONAS Gas declined 12 sen to RM18.02.
