If Sarawak Energy Bhd successfully goes public, CMSB will benefit. CMSB's phosphate plant, cement plant, and mining operations require significant electricity. SEB is the only entity capable of providing reliable power, making CMSB a major customer. Recently, CMSB's phosphate plant was shut down due to power outages, and the restoration of power was coordinated by SEB. SEB has numerous hydropower/energy infrastructure projects that require cement and building materials, and as a leading local company, CMSB is likely to benefit indirectly. Future Sarawak Green Industrial City projects may also create further intersections between CMSB and SEB.
The Sarawak government is tying heavy industry (including CMSB's phosphate and carbonate projects) to energy development. SEB provides affordable hydropower, attracting and supporting local industries like CMSB and driving the development of Sarawak's downstream industries.
SEB on the supply side (power)
CMSB on the demand side (industry + building materials)
