KUALA LUMPUR (July 13): Our cover story this week features Selangor Dredging Bhd and its latest development DaMai, a mid-rise condominium project in Taman Melawati. Managing director Teh Lip Kim shares how it was built using a hybrid design and features the benefits of a landed property and high-rise living — allowing homeowners to park their cars in front of their units.

Also in this issue is an overview of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia’s (RISM) 27th International Congress held on June 19 and 20. Themed “Innovate to elevate: Surveyors reinventing the profession and industry”, speakers spoke about how surveyors need to embrace technology and artificial intelligence to deliver faster, safer and more sustainable outcomes.

We also have our The Edge Malaysia | Savills Klang Valley Residential Property Monitor 1Q2025, which reveals that Selangor recorded a slight decline in volume and value of housing transactions, along with a drop in overhang units, showing steady but cautious buyer demand. Kuala Lumpur, meanwhile, also saw fewer transactions, but recorded a higher total transaction value.

Meanwhile, Majestic Gen is launching its second Johor project — Gen Sphere — this month. This follows the success of Gen Rise, which was fully sold after its launch earlier this year. The RM837 million Gen Sphere will occupy a 1.25-acre freehold site near the upcoming Bukit Chagar Rapid Transit System (RTS) station. It will comprise 996 serviced apartments in a 50-storey tower, supported by two lower ground levels.

Lastly, from our Singapore counterpart, Fraser Property’s latest project, the high-end The Robertson Opus, will sell from S$3,150 (RM10,467) psf. Developed by Frasers Property and Sekisui House in a 51:49 joint venture, The Robertson Opus will comprise 348 luxury residences. The units are spread across five 10-storey blocks arranged around a central courtyard and range from a 431 sq ft suite to a 1,539 sq ft, four-bedroom premium unit.
