PETALING JAYA: Bermaz Auto Bhd blames the “influx” of Chinese-made cars for the decline in sales of Kia and Mazda vehicles distributed by the group in Malaysia.
The group, which saw its net profit slump by over 55% in the second quarter ended Oct 31, 2024 (2Q25), also warned shareholders that its performance would remain “challenging” for the rest of the financial year.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Bermaz reported that its net profit fell to RM40.35mil in 2Q25, compared to RM90.1mil in the previous corresponding quarter, which lowered its earnings per share to 3.45 sen. Revenue declined by 35.8% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM646.86mil.For the six-month period, Bermaz’s net profit dropped 42% y-o-y to RM110.57mil, while revenue fell 28.8% to RM1.49bil.
