KUALA LUMPUR: Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd has clinched another contract from the Australian Department of Defence (ADD) to redevelop military facilities at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Butterworth, Penang.

This brings the total value of Fajarbaru's work secured for the project to RM23.34 million as of March 15, 2024.

Fajarbaru Builder's wholly-owned subsidiary, Fajarbaru Builder Sdn Bhd (FBSB), won a delivery phase (early works) contract worth RM11.04 million from ADD, which further expands its involvement in the design and construction infrastructure project to redevelop military facilities at the RMAF base.

The early works, which come under the project's delivery phase, will commence on March 18 and are scheduled to be completed on Nov 21, 2024.

Fajarbaru's group executive chairman, Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, said that securing the latest contract is another reaffirmation of the group's position as a trusted partner in critical infrastructure projects.

"We believe we are well-positioned to deliver exceptional results, showcasing our commitment to excellence and our ability to meet the strict requirements of ADD," he said in a statement. Last July, FBSB and Avionics Pty Ltd (APL) were awarded a head contract (international) in two phases from ADD to redevelop the Australian leased facilities and Malaysian facilities at RMAF.

For the planning phase of the project, Fajarbaru's portion of the contract initially had a value of RM7.36 million.

On Jan 11, 2024, Fajarbaru announced that the total value of this portion had been revised upwards to RM12.3 million to account for additional works.
