KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated copper products manufacturer Ta Win Holdings Bhd was the most actively traded stock on Bursa Malaysia in morning trade, after it announced the set up of a joint venture company that will help with the utilisation of its electron beam (e-beam) irradiation plant.

Some 163 million shares changed hands, with the company's share price went up to half a sen during trade.

As at 12.30pm it had settled at 4.5 sen a share.

Last Friday, Ta Win announced that its subsidiary Cyprium Capital Sdn Bhd entered into a joint venture agreement with China-based new energy cable manufacturer Ningbo Kibor Wire & Cable Co to manufacture, sell and distribute solar cable, tinned coated wire and other cable wire products, including those utilising the e-beam plant of Cyprium Wire Technology Sdn. Bhd.

Ningbo Kibor will own a 50 per cent plus one share in Cyprium Kibor Tech Sdn. Bhd, while Cyprium Capital will own the rest.

The JV will involve a total investment of RM15 million, financed through a mix of debt and equity.

The deal will enable Cyprium Wire Technology to increase revenue and expand its customer base by offering cables, wires products, and services to the JV company and its customers, which also includes the sale of e-beam products.

By treating the products of the JV company, the E-Beam plant will begin generating revenue that will lead to an increase in Cyprium Wire Technology revenue.

Ta Win said it will be able to expand its product range and entering new market through the proposed joint venture.
