Astral Asia deputy MD resigns for personal reasons

KUALA LUMPUR (July 26): Astral Asia Bhd's Deputy Managing Director Md Adanan Abdul Manap, 79, has resigned, citing personal reasons.

The company announced this via a filing on Bursa Malaysia and said the resignation will take effect Tuesday (July 26).

According to the company’s latest annual report, Md Adanan was appointed to its board in November 1997 as an independent non-executive director.

He was re-designated as executive director in September 2002 and subsequently appointed as Deputy MD in November 2016.

Astral Asia is principally engaged in the cultivation of oil palm, civil engineering and construction works, property development and e-commerce business.

Astral Asia shares finished up 5% or half a sen at 10.5 sen on Tuesday, valuing the group at RM66.15 million.
