True. Short selling only involved around 190,000 shares. Trading volume went up to around 90mil. We saw there were several occasions where stock holders were forced to sell their holdings in bulk at lower price.
Its bidders day today. They want it cheap. When they see sellers getting desperate, they want it cheaper.
I dont think this is a margin call. USD is weak lately. Central Banks dumped USD to buy gold instead. I think this is the works of foreign traders. They hold a considerable number of GENETEC shares at higher USD. Now they are disposing them at a loss and will continue to do so until they get rid of old stocks they bought at higher USD rate.
Once USD goes down, it will take a long time to climb up. As we see now, many countries are now using local currencies as their trading currency. More and more countries jumped in and join the wagon.
We simply have to wait until selling is over.
Once market knows the reason behind this drop, local fund managers and institutions will buy while GENETEC is extremely cheap. And when Sellers realised their stocks becomes hot, they will ask at higher price.
When they see buying spree stalls, they dump their shares at a lower price.
Genetec is helpless in this situation. They are in no position (cash) to buyback their shares. Genetec did not seize this opportunity to reduce their outstanding shares and hence increase their EPS which in turn makes make their company profile attractive or shield itself from hostile takeovers.

They have to stop somewhere. But we dont know when. We dont know how many stocks they still having. We do know they might have bought shares when GENETEC price was still low. But We do know there are other stock holders. They surely concern their holding value are shrinking. They will start defend their position and prevent GENETEC from falling.
BSKL issued a UMA and trip circuit breaker for short selling today. This will stop one way GENETEC from falling.
Genetec continuously make profit for the last 6 quarters, I think. They also consistently make MYR70 - 75mil revenue during those quarters. Pls check.

jeslyn.. pls read carefully. Whenever KLSE announced EPF made transactions, its already delayed min 5 days. This is for transaction made last Monday.
Yes. EPF disposed GENETEC shares but not as much EPF bought on the same day. EPF disposed only around 750k while they bought again on yhe same day as much as 4.7mil shares if i am not mistaken.
