PETALING JAYA (Dec 31): CabCar Sdn Bhd today officially launched Transporter, an e-hailing and on-demand delivery service provider and mobile app that offers competitively affordable services.

“We aim to offer the most cost-effective services to passengers and customers, generating new job opportunities to alleviate job and income loss due to [the] Covid-19 crisis that has affected households and business,” the service provider’s chief transporter officer Ballagee Chandra said at the launch.

The company aims to create 15,000 jobs in the next six months.

Ballagee said Transporter obtained its licence for the Transporter app from the Land Public Transport Agency in November.

The app works on a business model that aims to benefits various parties including passengers, drivers and SME business owners, according to the service provider.

Transporter comes under Cabcar’s “Lend A Hand (LAH)” initiative, a social programme to assist the F&B and other sectors to generate more income and create new job opportunities for riders and drivers.

Currently, the company is working with 150 F&B merchants and aims for 500 merchants by the end of February.

“We are not competing with anybody; we are co-operating,” said the company’s chief strategy evangelist Gerard Pillai in response to questions regarding Transporter’s strategy to outperform in the competitive e-hailing market.

Gerard said Transporter is spending up to RM1.5 million on research and development by 2021.

Ballagee said the service is expected to expand to all over the country by the end of 2021, although the app is currently not available in Sabah and Sarawak.

Gerard said to-date, there are 100 registered delivery riders and 300 registered drivers who work for the app. The company’s target is to have  4,500 to 5,000 delivery riders and 10,000 drivers within six months.

The app is available in both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
